पुस्तक दिंडी - a pilgrimage with books in Hingoli

#meta

I walked with Rushikesh Dabholkar, a friend that runs ‘Kulfi’, a magazine for kids, and two other friends in Hingoli district on गोष्ट दिंडी (Gosht is story in Marathi, Dindi is a pilgrimage on foot) from Oct 5 to Oct 9. We walked 53km over five days and visited 18 schools. Rishikesh told stories at each school and showed them different types of books that we had carried. I talked for about 5 minutes about my fingers. Rishikesh is an amazing storyteller and really knows how to get through to kids. It was a pretty amazing experience.

The sense that I got was, we sit in our cities and experience the world mediated by our screens. Going out there and seeing that, yes there are problems but, there are honest teachers who care about kids and show up, there are kids who are happy, enthusiastic and responsive. It made me feel a lot more content about the world.
